Cherry Room has been exploring paint using different tools including our bodies, starting to give meaning to marks we make whilst developing early mark-making skills. The children have been learning about mixing colours together to make new ones, discovering how primary colours combine to create different shades.

We have been doing lots of building and building relationships, learning to share resources and work together whilst creating towers with different sized bricks and trying to balance them. This construction play develops both physical and social skills as children collaborate and problem-solve.

The children have been dressing up, practising dressing ourselves and babies in the home corner whilst exploring different roles through imaginative play. We have also had a term filled with cooking and baking with Kelly, making cucumber cream sauces and pastries whilst exploring food and different textures through hands-on preparation.

Our book of the term was “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” which the children really enjoyed, taking this story outside and acting it out with adults. This active storytelling brought the narrative to life through movement and outdoor exploration.

Next term we have lots of things to look forward to such as making pancakes, Easter activities, and our story of the term will be “Brown Bear, Brown Bear.”
