This week we have started exploring growing. We have watched daffodil bulbs as they grow throughout the week, using our maths skills to observe the change in size and shape whilst tracking growth over time. We have looked at the roots and learnt the names for different parts of the plant, building scientific vocabulary and understanding of plant structure. We have started to learn what living things need to help them grow, developing knowledge of basic life processes.
We have been learning about what happens when we mix different materials and also how colours change when they are mixed together, exploring chemical and physical changes through hands-on experimentation. We have developed our fine motor skills using pipettes and brushes and learning to manipulate tools and small objects with increasing precision and control.
This term we have been exploring the story of “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.” We have learnt this story really well and every child is able to talk about the characters and retell some parts of the story, demonstrating strong comprehension and narrative skills. They have learnt new vocabulary and particularly enjoyed learning and sharing a range of words to describe size such as enormous, huge, large, and tiny, building comparative mathematical language through the story.
