The children in Hedgehogs Room have been working incredibly hard to develop their garden area this April. Their enthusiasm and creativity have helped transform this outdoor space.
We have added a mud kitchen area where children enjoy imaginative play, “cooking” with sand and water, mixing, pouring, tipping, etc.
A special area has been created for the children to relax with books and mark-making materials, providing a calm space for quiet activities.
We’ve also established a bigger area for building with different resources, where children can work together on construction projects.
The children have enjoyed exploring all the different areas in their refreshed garden space.
We’ve had lots of mark-making with chalk on the floor, including hopscotch, etc. These activities have been particularly popular.
We’ve been enjoying the hot weather and have had lots of water play outside with water animals, funnels and various containers for splashing and learning.
The new climbing equipment has been a tremendous success, showing how good the children are at balancing and supporting and encouraging one another.
And we are looking forward to extending the garden with new ideas in the coming weeks.
